8 - Sample Room New Packaging

I have been working with Sample Room for about four years now. I met Sophie Uy (one of the founders) when we were chosen as two of the 10 Women of Confidence here in the Philippines.

We kept in touch after that and discovered we shared the same faith. Sample Room was just starting out back then and I agreed to help them get the word out. You’re probably wondering, “Why did it take so long for Sample Room to be officially launched?”

The four founders Sophie Uy, Katherine Sy, Diana Ong and Nats Toh know each other from school and all have their own businesses. The whole concept of TRYVERTISING was completely new back then and it took a while for brands to actually warm up to it. With the rise of subscription boxes and the growing popularity of online reviews (which a lot of consumers now turn to before making any product purchase), brands soon realized the value of a community wherein real people can actually try out their products and give them authentic feedback about it. If I were the brand, that would actually serve me well–I get to create buzz about my product, I get real reviews and I’ll know if there are things I still need to improve.

Sample Room is also greatly beneficial to consumers who are always on the lookout for new products. The thing is, we have to be well-aware of the fact that not all products work well with our skin type and body chemistry. Imagine purchasing an entire bottle of moisturizer that costs a fortune only to find out three days after trying it, that it’ll cause your skin to break out? Would you still insist on using the product just because you spent a fortune on it? I don’t think so. That’s where Sample Room comes in.

06/28/2010 Beauty & Butter Launch

Alex and I were invited to the launch of the hippest face+hands+toes spa place–Beauty and Butter!

After the short program, Alex and I were welcomed by the buttercups (cute name for their attendants) and Liane Tablante, Beauty and Butter’s marketing executive. We looked through the service menu and picked out our treatments–Alex had the manicure w/ hand paraffin treatment while I had the manicure w/ hand spa treatment.

Buttercup Rosie started by removing my nail polish. She then pushed & cut my cuticles, trimmed my nails and filed them in shape. Next, she applied a grainy scrub that smelled really good. My hands were then washed and sloughing lotion was applied to exfoliate the skin. After my hands were washed, Rosie applied a cool, minty mask and wrapped my hands with cling wrap and warm towels to seal in the mask.

Beauty and Butter makes sure that their clients enjoy their pampering experience without getting bored. While we were having our treatments, Alex and I watched Night at the Museum at the huge LCD screen. As for those who don’t like what’s being shown, they’re actually lent Apple IPADs so they can surf the net!

Beauty and Butter offers a bevy of services from head to toe. Guests can choose a facial that best complements their skin’s needs for only P250-P350. There are also different hand and foot pampering packages which can be mixed and matched according to one’s needs and budget. For ladies who want to go a little extreme, the spa/salon also does nail art and acrylic nails. Choose from over a hundred designs by their in-house nail designers. To top off their list of treatments, clients can also have a soothing massage and avail of the hair removal services.
