The mere mention of “Marian Rivera” brings to mind words like “queen,” “beauty,” “a charmed life” and FLOWERS. Marian has never shied away from expressing her love for anything floral, even launching her very own flower arrangement business called Flora Vida. That of course, is just one of the many things on her bustling schedule as a wife to Ding Dong, mother to Zia and a sought-after actress and endorser. A lot are probably wondering how she was able to bounce back so fast after giving birth. Turns out, Marian is still very strict with her health and beauty regimen. Even if she’s gone back to work and still performs her duties as wife and mother at home, she makes sure that she still gets to take care of herself.
On July 27, 2017, Marian Rivera was officially introduced as the face of Snow Crystal White Beauty, a beauty supplement that fights free radicals, reduces the signs of skin aging and evens out the skin tone. In a sit-down interview during the event, Marian revealed:
Secret #1: She can skip sunblock now. Anyone who has experienced the intense Philippine heat knows that skipping sunblock is a definite no-no, so how can she NOT wear that now? Snow Crystal White Tomato has 800mg of Colorless Carotenoids (Phytofloral) derived from a unique breed of white tomatoes. It is clinically proven to deliver significant benefits such as evening out of skin tone, whitening and the increasing ability to defend itself against UVA and UVB rays. It also has 500mg Kohjin L-Glutathione, which helps repair skin and fight free radicals.
Secret #2: Though she was always told she’d make it as a movie star, Marian always wanted to become a teacher.
There’s actually more in the video, so instead of me writing verbatim, I’d rather that you listen to the snippets straight from her. 🙂 Enjoy!
How exactly do you care for your newly-tattooed brows and lips?
#1 Rule is to not get both areas wet for at least 24 hours.
That means, you cannot swim, wash or heavily sweat right after your procedure. Why? You want to protect your brows and lips from infection. They will give you an antibiotic and other aftercare ointments. For the brows I had to apply the antibiotic ointment for two days. For the lips, I had to put the cream on for 7 days. And no, you cannot use lip color while your lips are healing. Get a better idea of the aftercare in the video. I detail everything here:

In this video I take you through my S3 Eyebrow Stranding & Cherry Blossom Lip Tint procedure at Pretty Looks Uptown Mall. 🙂 Although I already had my eyebrows done last year, the pigment eventually faded (virgin brows, to blame?) so I’m glad I was able to have it done again by Pretty Looks.
Decades ago, getting your eyebrows tattooed was something you wouldn’t openly discuss with anyone. The dead giveaway would be when your brows begin to turn gray, dark green or bluish. Today, people are more open about permanent make-up, especially now that #EyeBrowsOnFleek is a huge trend globally. Still, we have to admit that not everyone has all the time in the morning to draw on the perfect arch. Over the years, there’s been great improvement on both the eyebrow tattoo technique and the pigments used by aestheticians. With the modern formulation, you no longer have to worry about your brows turning into an unsightly, artificial color and the stranding techniques mimic the look of real brow hair.
The whole brow procedure was done in 45 minutes. Blair was so gentle during the entire procedure, it was virtually painless. She would often ask me if I was feeling okay and I appreciate that she truly cares for her clients.
After my brows, Tita Susan began working on my liptint!
Watch the VLOG below to get a better idea of both procedures. I’ll post another video about the aftercare and what the brows and lips look like within 5 days.
In this vlog, I take you through a full day of teaching classes at John Robert Powers in Quezon City. Also, since the branch is freshly-renovated, I thought it would be fun to give you guys a tour.
Revlon introduced their new hair product collection which will be available in your favorite salons! Check out what went down during the launch at City of Dreams Manila.
I remember going through a quick color swatch during one of my classes at John Robert Powers many years ago. I was a teenager then and was completely clueless about the power of colors. I would randomly pick clothes that I thought looked cool or trendy without thinking so much if they were in the right color for my skin tone. The result? I ended up spending a lot of money on clothes that really didn’t make me look my best.
Discovering your color season will prove to be very helpful when you go shopping, get your hair dyed or even do your make-up. It’s a journey of self-discovery and acceptance–there really are times when a dress would look smashing on a model but have the opposite effect on you. There’d be moments when you try to replicate a make-up look but end up frustrated because you can’t seem to nail it. Don’t doubt your skills entirely; maybe the colors just aren’t right for you.
The Color Theory revolves around the four basic seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. This doesn’t mean that your skin tone corresponds to the season of your present location. I live in sunny Metro Manila but my color season is Cool Winter. :-p My natural hair color is black (which of course, due to kikay purposes, I have dyed since I graduated from college), my eye color is dark brown and my skin is light with some yellow and pink undertones.
Once you know your colors, it will be easier for you to tell if a dress is worth buying. Is it in your color or will it make you look washed-out? Will it make your skin glow? What hair color shades can you play around with? Watch the video below to learn more!
It took a while for me to finally say yes and try out semi-permanent make-up. Today, a lot of women have realized how perfectly shaped brows can brighten and open up one’s face. Hence this era’s massive obsession of #EyebrowsOnFleek. If you do your make-up everyday, you’d know that getting perfect brows is no easy task. It takes practice to get the right arch, length and shape which is appropriate for your face shape. I admittedly got tired of having to spend so much time on just my brows everyday, so with much convincing from Dra. Joan Clarence, I gave in.
Just like you, I had fears. Whenever I’d come across the term “tattooed brows”, visions of stark black and even green-tinged brows would haunt me (my reference point is my equally kikay grandmother, who had her brows tattooed when she was 60). It turns out, the pigments they used back then really had the tendency to turn greenish over time. Thankfully today, organic eyebrow pigments are being used. While these are deemed safer (and does not run the risk of turning green or black), the downside is the effect only lasts a year or two, depending on the body’s “reception” of the pigments. That is why a retouch every two years is encouraged. In the VLOG I talk about the procedure, length of time, the pain level and the after care. If you’ve always been curious about getting semi-permanent brows, watch and learn and I hope you get to try it out! Special thanks to my beautiful doctor Dra. Clarence for being so patient with me and guiding me all throughout the process.
2 weeks after getting my brows done.
