What’s it like to get an antioxidant & vitamin infusion? Is it scary? Are there side effects? Is it just for those who want to lighten their skin? I know, there are so many questions. Before going through this, I of course consulted with Dr. Jake before getting the green light. This video pretty much encapsulates the whole 30-45 minute session.
Having a practical wardrobe doesn’t mean that you compromise your style. While it may seem like a tough thing to do at first, you will realize that dressing will become easy and you won’t have to spend excess money on things that are not right for your body and lifestyle. When I started working and earning my own keep, I was often tempted to splurge on clothes and shoes because I somewhat felt empowered that I was making my own money and I could decide where to spend it. Of course, that didn’t last for long. I made purchasing mistakes, learned to manage my money better and here I am after a decade from then, talking about these lessons so you don’t commit the same mistakes I made.
I don’t talk about #KonMari in the video, although I admire Marie Kondo’s method of decluttering and letting go of things that no longer spark joy in a person’s life. Still, there may be things in your closet that may appear to spark joy in you but is no longer functional for your current lifestyle and season. Check out the 5 Steps I talk about in the video and tell me how it goes for you in the comment section below.
I was invited to an intimate luncheon with fellow Filipina bloggers to welcome the Marina and My Baby brands which are both from Indonesia. Marina is a brand of personal care products which has been around for 30 years, targeted towards young women who are confident go-getters. Marina’s product line includes hand and body lotions (regular and with UV protection), body mist cologne and eau de toilette. Check out the quick video I put together below!
My husband and I received these products from Watsons via Sample Room. We said we’d try it for a week and give our feedback.
The Olive Deep Moisturizing Shampoo (P209, 490ml)
I love the clear formulation. With just three pumps it lathered well on my hair and rinsed off easily. My husband on the other hand (who has thicker hair and uses wax), had to do a second round of shampooing just to get the grime off.
The Argan Oil Revitalizing Conditioner (P239, 490ml)
The conditioner didn’t have that heavy, creamy feel. Formulation is light yet moisturizing. My husband absolutely loved touching his hair after using this. He doesn’t use conditioner daily but he observed that his hair was still soft & smooth a few days after. It also worked well on my long, colored hair and gave it volume even without blow-drying.
The Rice Bran Brightening Cream Bath (P199, 490ml)
We were expecting this to be a little thicker (since it’s supposed to be a cream bath) but it was as light as the conditioner. It took 3-5 pumps on a nylon puff for it to bubble. The smell is pleasant, not overpowering. After showering and drying up, it’s necessary to follow up with your usual body lotion to lock moisture in.
The Aloe Vera Strengthening Hair and Scalp Tonic (P229, 120ml)
I am so addicted to the smell of this. I wish I could just spray it on whenever my hair needs a lift but this has salicylic acid, which is intended to prevent dandruff and regulate sebum. I fear that if I over-do it, my scalp may react differently. This has organic aloe vera juice and aloe extract that helps moisturize hair.
UPDATE: My scalp did react after using this for another week. I felt tightness in my scalp and flakes started to form. I decided not stop using it for a while and see if my scalp condition improves. I understand that for others, this formulation can work really well but for my scalp, it may have been a little harsh.
Will we consider purchasing these in the future? We’d definitely get the Olive Shampoo and Argan Oil Conditioner because these worked well for our different hair types. We also love when we find products that we both can share since it’s more practical that way.
What do we like most about these products?
-They use certified organic oils and extracts
-Light, pleasant scent
-Moisturizing capabilities of the Argan Oil Conditioner
-Packaging = 5 stars
-Prices are reasonable, given that they use imported organic products
Scheduling a hair and make-up trial with your glam team before your wedding day is necessary. Your make-up artist needs to be familiar with your face shape and features so it will be easier for him/her to come up with a look that gives you that fresh, bridal glow, highlighting your best features. If you browse through Pinterest and wedding websites, you may notice that bridal make-up is usually clean, defined and romantic. There are some brides of course, who may want an edgier look and that is something your wedding day glam team should discuss. Before your scheduled trial session, it would help if you bring some make-up pegs with you. Pinterest away! Screenshot or download photos of looks that you like and show them to your make-up artist and hair stylist. He/she would be able to tell you if it’s something that will work for your features or she’ll tweak it to suit you well. It would help to bring a sketch or photo of your gown, so your hairstylist can work with the design. You have to make sure that these elements blend together, so the overall look is harmonious.

Behind the scenes at our engagement shoot. 🙂
Dave and I didn’t really plan on having an engagement shoot. We were thinking kasi, parang ang ganda nung we go to different countries, enjoy the sights and learnings and then have local photographers take our photos there, even after the wedding na. We were surprised when we were given this gift of a pre-nup shoot. Yes, we had to plan, lay out the logistics, make a schedule and talk to people, but I’d have to say our shoot is one of the most enjoyable days that we’d recall with much fondness. Thanks to the photographer-lover tandem of Strong and Rachel, my friend Apple Quibete for making Dave and I look sharp in front of the camera and Hanna, my designer, for the beautiful pre-nup clothes.

Hanna and I know each other for several years now and I’ve actually asked her to make some of my dresses and gowns in the past. Knowing her design philosophy, her kind heart and her being so intentional to be a channel of Christ through her designing business didn’t make me think twice na she would be my gown designer. At first, I sent her pegs of gowns I liked.
She noted my preferences but surprised me with the sweetest, personalized designs, factoring in how well she knew me, my love for Disney and what would work best with my body type.
We met at the school program of BSF International (Ortigas Evening Women’s Class) where we both served as CLs. It’s been wonderful witnessing how Christ has been journeying and refining her through her family, ministry, design business and clients.

I’ve done another mid-year closet purge and have gotten rid of a lot of items I haven’t worn in the last six months. These past few months, I’ve really been working on simplifying everything in my wardrobe. While it’s been great trying to keep up with trends without breaking the bank, I feel like I’ve gotten to that point in my life wherein I just want to stick with the classics. Why?
- They don’t go out of style
- It’s easier to maintain and accessorize
- Lesser wardrobe purging–you get to use everything on rotation and it’s fun to mix and match!
One of the wardrobe basics I realized I didn’t have was a black tank top. My old one went missing when we moved houses 9 years ago. Through my Sample Room membership, I availed of a Uniqlo AIRism voucher that allowed me to get my free sample of the Uniqlo Seamless Tank Top.
The Airism material as you can see in the video, is lightweight and thin. It’s perfectly comfortable when worn as innerwear–it doesn’t make you feel stuffy, allows your skin to breathe and it does not feel sticky even in sweaty situations. The black tank can be used as a top just because it’s a more solid, dark color, while the nude and white versions are best used as inner wear due to the thin material.
The P590 price point isn’t bad for the quality of the material and the multiple times it can be worn. Aside from the basic colors, the tank is also available in pastel hues and striped versions.
Ever had those times when you just want to eat all the food in the world without having to worry about gaining weight and growing those love handles? Even if I’m huge on vegetable smoothies and salads, I have to admit that I get tempted when I’m faced with sweet desserts, pasta, crispy pata, bagnet and tender ribs. I have to battle with that inner voice that says “Come on. Just once.” But I know full well that that “Just once.” can lead to me using that as an excuse every single time I’m at a buffet spread. It takes discipline, doesn’t it?
