I clearly remember the first time I had Tanya Markova on Stage 1. They were a bit shy, didn’t get to talk that much but in spite of that, I got intimidated! Could it have been the make-up? Not really.
This is Tanya Markova’s second time on Stage 1 and I can say that they’ve grown so much! They’re still their usual crazy selves, but they’ve acclimatized so well to the nature of their lives as entertaining musicians. What I appreciate about them the most is that they’re very down-to-earth, walang artista “Oy sikat kami” air whatsoever and their great original compositions. Tanya Markova may come off as distracting and weird to some people on their first encounter, but when you listen to their music you suddenly find yourself humming along, bopping your head and smiling from ear to ear.
Their songs may not be poetically deep with highfaluting words and angst, but they’re honest and witty. The melodies are not ear-breaking, there aren’t unnecessary roars or vocal calisthenics but the little bits, effects and pieces all the members contribute truly make them stand out.
They’re out with a new single called “The Facebook Song” and again, I couldn’t help but chuckle at the words and sing along with them by the 2nd chorus.
