Pond’s Alchemy & UV Launch

Hosted the launch of the two new innovations from Pond’s–The Flawless White Blemish Prevention UV Cream and the Pure White Facial Foam. I’m sure you’ve seen the commercials for both products on TV. 🙂

Dermatologist Dra. Socouer Oblepias gave us a brief lecture on the sun and its effects on the skin. She stressed the importance of applying sunblock even if we’re indoors because the sun’s harmful rays can penetrate through glass, can bounce off walls and even from concrete ground. Cloudy and foggy days are also not an excuse to skip sunblock. She also stressed that one should select a sunblock that can protect against both UVA & UVB rays. If we take a look at our skin, it may look normal to the naked eye. However, since we are exposed to the sun every single day of our lives, we can’t deny the fact that it’s already done some damage. Daisy, a beauty advisor from Pond’s volunteered to have her skin checked under the skin analyzing machine. A TV monitor that was connected to the machine showed everyone what lay underneath her seemingly normal skin–dark spots.

Thankfully, we can combat dark spots with regular use of sunblock w/ high SPF, making sure we apply & re-apply every three hours. “That’s where Pond’s Flawless White UV Cream comes in,” says Jacqe Yuengtian, Senior Brand Manager of Ponds “What’s unique about this product is that it has complete UV protection as it protects against both UVA & UVB rays.” She was also happy to share that it’s the first Pond’s product that’s been given a 4-star UVA Protection which is proven to prevent blemishes caused by the sun.

To get rid of dirt & other impurities, Pond’s introduces the Pure White Facial Foam which is formulated with activated carbon. We did a little science experiment which illustrated how activated carbon works.
The tall glass contains dirty water. We poured the dirty water into the two empty glasses. We mixed activated carbon into the water glass on the right and mixed it. We then used two more empty glasses with filter papers on top and poured both glasses with water into the empty ones, watching the dirty water as it went through the filter paper. The water on the left glass (w/o activated carbon) still came off as dirty, while the water on the right glass (w/ activated carbon) came off crystal clear.

Pond’s Pure White Facial Foam works the same way. It’s a deep cleansing product that draws out black impurities, dirt and oil from the face, leaving it purer and whiter. Ms. Yuengtian said that this is her favorite facial wash in the Pond’s line. Some of the members of the press asked about the safety of activated carbon on facial skin. Ms. Yuengtian happily shared that activated carbon is a widely used ingredient in Japanese beauty products for several years now.
